SAFE USE OF DIISOCYANATES

Restrictions and training for the use and placing on the market

As known, diisocyanates are category 1 respiratory and skin sensitisers.
Restriction 74 of Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation, with EU Regulation 2020/1149 published on 08/04/2020, provides that:

- the industrial and professional use of products containing free diisocyanates in a concentration ≥ 0.1% is only permitted to personnel who, within 24 August 2023, has successfully completed the training, which topics are reported in the Restriction itself. Training must be documented and renewed every five years;

- the labeling of these products, from February 2022, contains the statement: «From 24 August 2023 adequate training is required before industrial or professional use».
Also in section 2.2 of our Safety Data Sheets it is possible to check (with the same wording) if the products are subject to the Restriction.
